Kem


Kem is a Tavern owner and Seg's best friend. He was raised in the Rankless District by Mama Zed after his parents died. Despite his rough upbringing as a rankless, Kem is a relatively laid back individual. He loves to joke around, even if the situation is dire. As Seg's best friend, Kem often finds himself getting tangled up in Seg's issues, but is more than willing to help him out whenever he can.

As the adoptive son of Mama Zed, Kem was raised to be kind to others, regardless of their status in life. Upon meeting Seg when they were just kids, Kem takes it upon himself to pull the former El to his feet whenever he feels down. Unlike Seg, Kem doesn't quite understand the ways of Earth and is often left confused at what the hell Adam is talking about. When it comes to places of high authority, Kem is often uncomfortable and doesn't want to be there. Kem owns the tavern in The Rankless District there he scams drunk guilds men with the help of his friend Seg-El. But after a fight Seg told everyone in the Tavern that drinks were on the house.

After that Kem accompanies Seg to the Guild when they are told to leave. Kem was even at Charys-El’s trial. And asked Seg if there was anything he could do for him and he ends up getting him a Skimmer. After returning from the Fortress of Solitude he leaves Adam Strange with Kem. And after Seg has returned with a tablet from the Guild but found nothing that supports Adam’s theory, Kem keeps on looking after Adam swears he is telling the truth. Eventually Kem ends up finding something that occurred in the Outlands, so they go and check it out and they end up finding.

Rhom

Rhom

Publication Information Rhom is the single mother of Ona and she lives in The Rankless District. She is also friends of House El and Kem. First meet Rhom when she visits Seg-El in his appartement at The Rankless District to pay her respects after the deaths of Seg‘s parents Ter and Charys-El. She tells Seg that his parents always looked after her daughter Ona when she worked the night shift without asking for anything in return. In a flashback we see Rhom with Ona in Kem’s Tavern and Kem gives them a meal even do they can not affort it.

And he tell’s them there will always be a meal for them there. But Rhom tell’s him she’ll pay him back soon as she was starting a “glamourous” new job that evening, which turns out to be working salvage in the Outlands. While working salvage, Rhom found Brainiac's sentry and the parasite inside infected her. When the Military Guild began raiding Sector 19 looking for Black Zero agents, the parasite activated Rhom and she killed several Sagitari. She is confronted by Seg in the communications hub and he manages to subdue her.

Taking Rhom back to the Fortress of Solitude, the hologram of Val-El confirms that Brainiac's modifications are keeping her alive, but that she has already relayed all of the information in her brain to the World Collector. Back at the Fortress of Solitude Rhom, is not doing too well. Val tell’s Seg and Adam there is nothing more he can do for her medicley speaking, and that she has only a few hours left. Then, for a brief moment, Rhom wakes up, and warns Adam that Ona must be stopped before she dies.

Kol-Da

Publication Information Kol-Da is a member of Commander Zod’s squad. irst encounter Kol-Da is when Commander Zod’s is preparing her Squad for “The Rankless Initiative”. Once landed in sector 19 of The Rankless District she tries to do her job, but things get out of hand when Rhom kills tree sagitari under the influence of Brainiac. And when Kol-Da finds her Deceased colleges she get a bit trigger happy and it results in the death of an unarmed Rankless. At this point Commander Zod places her under arrest for killing a defenceless man. After her arrest she provides Daron-Vex with a false testimony to frame Lyta-Zod for the failed "Rankless Initiative of the Military Guild for which The Voice of Rao is looking for a scapegoat, and he thinks Lyta is the perfect kandidate.

Ona

Ona

Publication Information Ona is the Rhom daughter and she lives with her mother in The Rankless District. When her mother worked night shifts, Ter and Charys-El would often look after Ona for her. After their passing, Ona and her mother visited Seg to offer their condolences. Ona gave him a rock with a House El sigil on it. Later we see a flashback of Rhom and Ona in Kem's Tavern, where Kem gives them a meal even do they can not afford it. And Kem tells them there will always be a meal there for them.

But Rhom tells him she'll pay him back as soon as she can, as she's starting a new job that evening. Later we see Ona with Kem as they struggle to get trough "The Rankles Initiative" and as the Sagitari try to take Ona from Rhom she attacks the Sagitari with such force she kill's them and scares Ona and Kem. When all that is over Kem decides to take Ona back to his tavern to hide and wait for Seg who's on his way to them. And Seg tells Ona it’s the sickness that made her attack the Sagitari and that he would do all he could to heal her mother.

But later on Kem and Seg try to tell Ona that her her mother is not getting better and will not come back, so Seg suggested that they take Ona to Mama Zed, that she’ll know what to do. Kem also takes Ona to the Nova Cicle Celebration. She wanted to give The Voice of Rao an offering in her mother‘s name during the god's grand parade in The Rankless District of Kandor. She got a wee bit excited, and climbed up on the rostrum against custom. As a reward for her courageous display of piety, Ona is given rank by The Voice of Rao, and initiated into the Guild as a novice.
