Yuna would later take the remains of his right arm and fuse it into her hand to allow her to instantly wield Kurōdo's sword, but she has yet to fully master it. Little is known about Kurōdo, due to his brief appearance. It was never mentioned was he a titled knight or not, only that he was a skilled swordsman. Kurōdo became a makai knight, but it's unclear did he inherited a title. He eventually met and married Priestess Iyu and the couple would later have their daughter, Yuna. Wanting Yuna to be strong in combat, Kurōdo trained Yuna in the ways of a makai knight.

He trained Yuna to fight from a young age, something Iyu was not so happy about. When Iyu presumably perished, he took care of Yuna on her own and presumably without giving her further training on Makai magic.
Death & Aftermath
On the night where he and Cain are supposedly off to fight Ring for the last time, Iyu showed up unexpectedly beside Ring. Shaken and confused, he prevented Cain from landing a hit on Ring which can potentially get Iyu in the crossfire, a chance Ring used to deal a fatal blow, before throwing another that severed his arm holding his sword. He died in despair without finding out what happened to his wife. A bone from his severed arm, an amulet he wore on his hand and his sword were all that were left of him from that fight.

In desperation of wanting revenge against her father's murderer with her own hands, she had Kain magically implant the surviving bone from his father's severed arm into her arm, which allows her to use her father's Makai Sword; it puts a tremendous strain on her body, causing her pain whenever she exerts herself too much. She seeks Rei's help together with Kain, after coming to conclusion that both of them alone are inadequate to defeat Ring.
With the help of Rei and Kain, Yuna was able to find closure to her vendetta and became a happier person. However, her inability to fully use her father's blade has frustrated her. The social norms within Makai Society don't support women becoming a knight, not even Cain believe she can become a knight as she can't activate her father's armor. However, a fateful encounter with Reo Fudō, a knight and priest, encouraged her to continue her path after parting Kouga Saejima's wisdom of having pride as a knight. Added with Reo's praise over her abilities and supportive words, she found acceptance and happiness within herself; she continues her path as both knight and priestess.
Abilities
- Despite being moderately skilled in battle, her impulsiveness and thirst for revenge always gets the better of her and coupled with her inexperience in wielding a Soul Metal weapon, results in brash and clumsy attacks that are easily predictable. In order to keep her from hurting herself further, Rei challenges her to a fight and easily beats her senseless, driving home the message that her current mindset and skills do her no good in their quest of hunting down Ring.

When she was blinded by a Horror while protecting Yuna, she was saved by Ring and the same wish found his ideals of co-existence between Horrors and humans appealing, causing her to join hands with the powerful Horror. Her place in the community is special and she does not interact with anyone other than Ring, but often sings to placate the emotions of the humans within the community, especially when one is about to be served as a Blood Dolce.
Izumo

- Latel is one of the Ady Slate Horrors. The younger brother of the Makai Priestess Bikuu, Izumo was a fallen Makai Knight who ended up confronting Latel after the Horror was just freed from the Ady Slate by Eiji Busujima. Latel proceeds to defeat Izumo and take over the Makai Knight's body to use as a vessel so he can fight more worthy opponents to devour.
- As Bikuu was deployed to kill her brother from his transgressions, she is forced to work with Raiga Saezima as he and his group are after the Horror. This leads to Latel going after Raiga before being slain after Bikuu targeted a weak point on her brother's body. Once Latel's essence is reduced to a stone, Bikuu proceeds to purify what remained of her brother.

- Akari was a Makai Priestess and the lover of the Phantom Knight Eiji Busujima. Her death caused Eiji to turn rogue and free the legendary Horror Eyrith in his mad quest to resurrect her. In Makai Tales, it's been revealed she's a spirit keeps company with Eiji. Akari meets a young Raiga Saejima when he hurts himself during training, she treats the wound in his hand and tells him to not to do dangerous things all by himself.
