Duan Zhengchun (temple name Zhongzong, posthumous name Wen'an) was the 15th[1] emperor of the Kingdom of Dali. He reigned from 1096 to 1108. He was the younger brother of Duan Zhengming, and the first ruler of the Later Dali Kingdom.

In 1094, Duan Zhengming was forced by Gao Shengtai to abdicate and become a monk. Gao then crowned himself emperor. However, after two years of reign, Gao Shengtai died in 1096 and made a will to return the throne to the Duan family. Duan Zhengchun ascended to the throne in 1096. Duan Zhengchun abdicated and became a monk in 1108. He was succeeded by his son Duan Yu.

In Fiction

In Jin Yong novel " Dragon ", the Duanzheng Chun is the Northern Song Dynasty Dali State Zhennan. Duanzheng Chun described the novel as Chinese characters face, quite dignified appearance, but romantic by nature. The biggest secret is Yunnan Dali Duan exclusive martial " lance slight "transported from the whole body internal force set in the fingertips, bearing grace, a means to beat the opposition.

Duan Zhengchun : is a prince of Dali and Duan Zhengming's younger brother. Notorious for his philandering ways, he conceives several illegitimate daughters with different women in his younger days. Ironically, three of his daughters become romantically involved with Duan Yu, whom he raises as his son without knowing that Duan Yu was actually conceived out of a past illicit affair between his wife, Dao Baifeng, and Duan Yanqing, his distant cousin and future nemesis.

He succeeds his brother as the king of Dali after the latter abdicated and became a monk. While travelling around, he is confronted on different occasions by Duan Yanqing, who attempts to force him to hand over his throne. He commits suicide to join his lovers after they are killed by Murong Fu.
