Sandy Palmer


Sandy Palmer is the wife of David Palmer and the mother of Ray and Sydney Palmer. At some point, Sandy married David Palmer and in 1981, she gave birth to twin sons Ray and Sydney Palmer. As Sandy raised the two boys, she grew very concerned about Ray's lack of friends and always living in his own world, yet still deeply loved him.

In 1988, unbeknownst to Sandy, Ray befriended a baby Dominator and hid him in his room calling him Gumball, which lead him to skip school in order to be with his alien friend. Sandy was informed of her son's absence in school and left work to confront Ray at home, severely scolding him. Moments later, Amaya and Nate pretended to be animal control workers in order to enter her home, the latter trying to charm her. Sandy expressed her worries about her son, which Ray overheard. Later, the Dominator queen approached Sandy and took her memories of the meeting with Nate in order to disguise herself as her. Sandy was then wrapped into a cocoon and placed into a tree, where she was eventually found by Amaya. The Dominator used Sandy's visage to seduce Nate.

Publication Information After Ray tearfully reunited Gumball with his mother, the real Sandy was freed from the cocoon and brought into the ruined house. Her memory of the encounter was wiped away and she was provided with a cover story of possums running amok in her home from Nate and the time traveling future version of Ray, who assured Sandy that she's doing "a really good job" with her son.

Publication Information David Palmer is the husband of Sandy Palmer and the father of Ray and Sydney Palmer. At some point, David Palmer married Sandy and in 1981, the couple had twin sons, Ray and Sydney. In an aberration event, David and Sandy reported Ray missing after he failed to return home on October 31, 1988, and he was later grieving Ray's death together with the rest of his family. However, that event was prevented by the Legends.

Publication Information Sydney Palmer is the brother of Ray Palmer. After his brother joined the Legends in their time travel, leaving 2016 and presumed dead, Sydney, in a potential future, acquired Ray's technology and continued his brother's work in robotic engineering, becoming known as the father of the robotics industry by 2147. It has been implied that Sydney and Ray are identical twins, as their facial appearances are the same. Sydney was born to David and Sandy Palmer in Ivy Town and had a twin brother, Ray.

During his childhood, Sydney liked to play the video game Tecmo Bowl and often fought with Ray as the latter preferred to play Legend of Zelda. In a potential future, Ray theorizes that Sydney went to work for Felicity Smoak at Palmer Technologies and at some point acquired his brother's A.T.O.M. Exosuit technology, claiming it as his own after Ray's disappearance, and sold the latter's research to the military. Sydney passed on the Palmer name and his descendant, Dr. Bryce, continued his passion for robotics in the Kasnia Conglomerate, with a bust of him appearing in the lobby of the building she worked in. According to Bryce, Sydney was the founder of the company that would eventually produce robotic enforcers, dubbed A.T.O.M. robots by Ray, for the Kasnia Conglomerate.

  • An unnamed woman is the cousin of Ray Palmer and Sydney Palmer. When Ray Palmer saw Kara Danvers in her civilian outfit, he told Felicity Smoak that Kara looked a lot like his cousin.
