Zari Tomaz


Zari Tomaz, known as Z to her friends and Khaahar to her brother, is a hacker, rogue time traveler, a member of the Legends, and "one of the six". Zari Tomaz grew up as a Muslim in 2042, an era which banned religion.

She lived with her family, and together with her brother was part of a resistance against A.R.G.U.S.'s control of the United States, which had severe anti-meta-human laws. One night, they raided their home, killing Zari's brother and taking her prisoner, transporting her in a truck. However, the truck was stopped by Kuasa, giving Zari time to escape before the former could kill her. Zari made her way to a hideout, where she was found by the Legends. An A.R.G.U.S. drone found them, but Zari was able to hack it, allowing her to escape. She headed to a bar, where she was intercepted by Mick Rory, attempting to befriend her.

Working with the Legends

One night, they raided their home, killing Zari's brother and taking her prisoner, transporting her in a truck. However, the truck was stopped by Kuasa, giving Zari time to escape before the former could kill her.

Joining the Legends

They returned Zari to her hideout, where Rory and Amaya convinced her to join their team, the latter explaining how her amulet was, in fact, a totem, while offering herself to teach her how to control her powers. On the Waverider, Ray tried to have a team building routine in honor of Zari joining the group, which she thought was pointless. She then watched Ray disappear in front of her which was a result of him dying in 1988. When the team prepared to travel back to save him, she was excited to actually time travel.

When Nate had been kidnapped by Sir Henry Stein, Zari went with the team to infiltrate the Order of the Shrouded Compass and rescue him, as well as find the rogue vampire. She infiltrated the club with the team and she was asked to sit for a seance with Nora Darhk. Zari's disbelief was evident to her and she told Zari that she too was a skeptic before she realized her power.

Nora then went into a trance and Zari heard her speak out in her brother's voice. Zari then heard her younger brother say that it was her fault that he died as she didn't protect him and had run away. Zari tearfully tried to plead to her brother but Amaya broke the seance up. Back at the ship, Zari told Amaya that she did indeed run and left her brother to be killed by A.R.G.U.S. She also didn't want her totem anymore as it was a reminder that she should've died that day, not her brother.

Crisis on Earth-X

When most of the heroes were on Earth-X, Zari along with the rest of the Legends rescued the rest of the heroes who were trapped in the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator. She later joined Team Flash, Team Arrow, and the rest of the Legends and helped them repel the Earth-X Nazi forces.

Abilities

Air Totem : Zari's powers came from the Air Totem, a totem that channels and harnesses the power of air.
  • Aerokinesis: The Air Totem granted Zari with the power to manipulate the air, bending it in whichever way she wanted.
    • Air Blasts : The totem allows Zari to fire offensive or defensive blasts of air from her hands
    • Vortex Generation : The totem allows Zari to generate a powerful vortex to shield herself. It's unknown exactly how powerful it is, although the fact that during the medically induced virtually reality Gideon put her in she utilized this in an attempt to protect the rest of the team and the ship from a bomb implies it is able to resist quite a bit of force.
      • Flight : The totem allows Zari to fly by creating a vortex. The Totem can also make others fly as she did to Ray Palmer.
    • Totem Recall : Zari has the ability to "call" her totem to her if she currently does not possess it
    • Expert computer hacker : Zari is an experienced computer hacker, as she was able to hack into an A.R.G.U.S. drone to escape from it. She was also able to hack into the Waverider although Gideon knew after she did it.
    • Expert hand-to-hand combatant : Zari is shown to have well-coordinated fighting styles like boxing during fights such as the resurrection of Damien Darhk and while saving Helen of Troy. Zari was even skilled to hold her own against a possessed Sara Lance before getting defeated.
    • Expert Engineer : Zari proved to be a skilled engineer, easily repairing Waverider. After the departure of Jefferson Jackson she became the "engineer" of the ship.
    • Skilled violinist : Zari has shown to be skilled at playing the violin, as she was able to, presumably, teach herself how to play the violin during the sedative-induced dream and play Vivaldi's '"L'inverno" Concerto No. 4 in F minor, Op. 8, 4 'Winter': Largo'. after her sedative-induced dream flawlessly.
Equipment
  • Air Totem : All of Zari's powers came from her necklace, which allowed her to manipulate the air
  • Suit : Zari's first costume was an all-white costume which she disliked. During the Nazi invasion, Zari received a suit from the Waverider with the color consisting of black and gold.


Behrad Tomaz

Behrad Tomaz
Publication Information Behrad Tomaz was the brother of Zari Tomaz, and the son of an unnamed man and woman. Behrad was a vigilante in the A.R.G.U.S.-controlled America, wielding the Air Totem. In 2042, A.R.G.U.S. raided his family's home, killing him.

Legacy

In 1895, Nora Darhk supposedly summoned Behrad's spirit, instead having Mallus possess her, convincing Zari that he was in fact Behrad. When Sara Lance was corrupted by wearing the Death Totem, she made a glamor of a child version of Behrad to lower Zari's guard.

    • Aerokinesis : The Air Totem granted him the power to manipulate the air.
Former Equipment
  • Air Totem : Before his death, Behrad was the owner of the Air Totem.
