Winn Schott

Winslow "Winn" Schott Jr. is a tech expert who works alongside Kara at CatCo and serves as one of her allies, helping her develop her costume and aiding her in her adventures as Supergirl. Winn has an unrequited crush on Kara and is rivals with James for her affection, and he later pursued a relationship with Cat's new assistant Siobhan Smythe until she turns into Supergirl's supernatural metahuman archenemy Silver Banshee.

In the series, he is the son of Toyman. In the second season, he has left CatCo for a full-time position at the DEO recruited by Alex Danvers and J'onn J'onzz. He and James also become best friends. Winn is responsible for helping James to become the Guardian while he is called the man in the van by James. In addition to remain improving Kara's costume and offers her tech support, Winn also makes his own modifications with her interdimensional extrapolator, a device she received from Earth-1's metahuman inventor Cisco Ramon. In season 3, during the "Crisis on Earth-X" crossover, an Earth-X version of Winn is introduced. General Winn Schott is the leader of the Freedom Fighters working against the New Reich on his world and thus is Dark Arrow's enemy. He is even able to obtain some of Dark Arrow's arsenal as trophies throughout their fights, therefore implies that Schott is a formidable adversary to the New Reich.

Abilities

Genius-level intellect : Winn is very intelligent, as he is able to think of solutions no-one else has thought of; such as deducing Non's plan involving Lord Technologies satellites. Both Superman and Supergirl respectively have titled Winn as a genius, thus, fully acknowledging his intelligence.
Computer specialist / Expert computer hacker : Winn is a highly skilled computer specialist; as he was able to upload malware into Indigo, and insensibly hack Hank Henshaw's cybernetic systems, banning him from shutting the portal to Daxamite ship, and even forcing him to attack Lillian Luthor. Winn is a highly skilled computer hacker, capable of breaking into any computer system, which makes him a valuable asset to both the D.E.O. and Supergirl's team. His skills even extend to alien devices, having uploading malware into Indigo, a living machine, reactivating a teleportation system and figuring out how to hack into the Daxamite mothership security systems. He also can hack and reprogram cyborgs and most likely, robots.
Expert engineer : Winn is a highly skilled engineer like Cisco on Earth One; as he was to create two anti-Kryptonite suits for Superman and Supergirl respectively, to protect them from the effects of Metallo and Dr. Gilcrist's Green Kryptonite beams; despite it being a rush job. He was even able to create a protective suit for James Olsen after the latter told him about wanting to become a vigilante; albeit Winn was initially reluctant to help James. Along with fellow high-leveled engineer Lena Luthor, he was able to create a device, that destroys energy-based alien weapons and later, reconstruct Lex Luthor's Kryptonite-spreading machine into a lead-spreading machine.
Multilingual : Winn is capable of fluently speaking English and Kryptonese, as well as having enough knowledge of Starhavenitese to translate a passage from one of their books.

Winslow Schott Sr. is a former toy designer and the villain known as Toyman. Winslow was a family man, very close to his son Winn Jr., with whom he used go to his workshop and build toys often. At an unknown point in time, Winslow created the company Slingschott Toys, with the company eventually going bankrupt. After his boss Chester Dunholtz stole his toy designs, becoming rich off of it, Schott sent a teddy bear with a bomb to Dunholtz, seeking revenge. However, the package was opened by Dunholtz's assistant, killing her and five other people. Afterwards, Schott was sent to Van Kull Maximum Security Prison, and gained the nickname, Toyman, as a result of his actions

Escape from Prison

Several years later, Winslow escaped from Van Kull, killing several guards using a Yo-Yo blade that he had created. After escaping, he set up base at the Slingschott Toys factory, and he left a toy on his son's desk at CatCo Worldwide Media, telling him to meet him at their favorite arcade, and to come alone. Instead of actually going, Winslow created a toy version unidentifiable from himself. When Winn arrived, Winslow told his son that they were the same, and linked.

Abilities

Genius-level intellect : Winslow is a very smart man, able to conceive dangerous devices and even elaborate trap to neutralize Supergirl for a time, using quicksand laced with thermite to nearly suffocate her or blow her up if she tried to destroy it with heat vision.
Expert engineer : Winslow is a brilliant inventor, as shown by the multitude of deadly devices he was able to create and effectively use, such as his yo-yo blade, the automaton version of himself he created, and the numerous bombs he planted in toys.
