Genryu Rippukan

Genryu Rippukan is Souji's strict father and the current head of the Rippukan House who wants Souji to follow in his footsteps. After his wife, fashion designer Reiko Tanba, left him due to his utter dedication to the sword, Genryu fell into depression, feeling that he had lost all those who were important to him. Moved by the situation, Souji decided to stay with him, swearing to himself not to let anyone succumb to their sadness again.

However, as the years passed and Souji entered adolescence, he would rebel against his father's strictness, seeing that this was what drove his mother away. Souji would show his rebel streak by performing swordplay his own way, including but not limited to his reverse sword grip. When Souji uses this style to defeat Debo Royaroya, who had captured his father and Souji's teammate Daigo Kiryu, Genryu acknowledges his style and allows him to perform his sword skills any way he sees fit. When Reiko comes back into their lives, trying to take Souji with her to make him a model, Genryu goes after her, and they start bickering again.

Souji lashed out at them, but the timely intervention of Wise God Torin, plus the attack of New Sorrowful Knight Icerondo on Genryu in order to take his sadness, allow Souji to remember why he stayed with his father in the first place, while also causing Genryu and Reiko to come to an understanding, giving their son their blessings and parting ways peacefully.

Reiko Tanba is a wealthy fashion designer who is Souji's mother. She and Genryu separated while Souji was still a child, and Souji stayed with his father. She returns to take Souji under her wing to be a fashion model and travel the world, denying his wishes to stay with his friends to serve as a Kyoryuger. Torin in disguise, manages to get the two together to allow Reiko to realize that she should not force her wishes on her son, and allows him to continue protecting the world as a Kyoryuger.

Rin Katsuyama is Souji's high school classmate and the school's kendo club manager. At some point, Rin and Souji were married and had a family, with their great-grandson Soujiro being part of the future Kyoryuger team in 2114.
